On Sunday 29th January the over 55's team travelled to Dorset's new venue in Bournemouth to plkay their third match of the season.
The team was Nigel Maryan, Neil McConchie, Steve Howard, Pete Rowlands, Di Wilmott, Greta Howard, Sue Carr and Sue Long.
In the mens doubles Nigel and Neil beat the Dorset first pair 21-16, 21-14 and then repeated this again agianst their second pair winning 21-16, 21-13. Pete and Steve at second pair fought hard against the Dorset second pair going down 21-17 in the third set and never really got going against the first pair.
2-2 each for the mens doubles.
The ladies first pair of Di and Greta easily beat the Dorset first pair 21-13, 21-11 but struggled more against the second pair but still ran out winers 21-19, 21-12. The two Sue's combined as second pair and lost a very hard fought encounter with the Dorset second pair going down 21-18 in the third set. Not to be out done they fought hard again against the Dorset first pair and this time won 20-22, 21-16, 21-18 to give Wiltshire a 3-1 win and a 5-3 lead after the doubles.
In the mixed Neil and Sue Carr won easily at second mixed 21-9, 21-11 and Pete and Greta gave Wiltshire the win with a 21-17, 17-21, 21-11 win at fourth mixed. Nigel and Di at first mixed lost in 2 sets, Steve and Sue Long at third mixed lost in three sets, 18-21, 21-18, 10-21 leaving Wiltshire winners by 7-5. |
